To mark the beginning of National Volunteer Week (18-24 May) we’re pleased to announce that the Have your say about student volunteering survey is live.
About the survey
The Have your say about student volunteering survey is being conducted as an initiative of the Volunteering Strategy for SA 2021-2020 to help determine how to best promote and sustain volunteering in South Australia. The Volunteering Strategy is working together with schools and volunteer involving organisations to embed student volunteering into everyday school curriculum to:
- create accessible opportunities for all students to participate in volunteering
- strengthen school-community partnerships
- enrich student learning through volunteering.
School aged students are invited to do the short survey now at: https://www.surveymoz.com/s/YR5ABN/ The survey is open until 5 June 2020.
Why is the survey being conducted?
The current Volunteering Strategy will conclude in December 2020. The purpose of this survey is to provide school students with an opportunity to help shape the future of volunteering in SA for a further 6 years (2021-2027), in particular volunteering linked to the Australian Curriculum.
The information collected
The Volunteering Strategy will not share any names or contact details, only a de-identified data set of all the information collected. The main purposes for which data will be used is to contribute to developing initiatives that grow and support volunteering by school aged children in South Australia.
It will help state and local government, business and the not-for-profit sector understand the experiences and motivations of student volunteers, how student volunteering programs in schools operate, and help inform future volunteer policies and strategies.
Survey participation
Although participating in the survey is voluntary, student’s contribution to supporting and enhancing volunteerism in SA is greatly valued. It is also important that their voice contributes to the development of a second Volunteering Strategy, even if the school doesn’t offer student volunteering programs, or has been running a student volunteering program for only a short time.
If you have any questions, please contact Heidi Unferdorben, Senior Policy and Project Officer Volunteers, Department for Education at education.volunteers@sa.gov.au or 8226 3795.
The survey has been developed with school students for school students, and is a partnership between the Department of Human Services, Department for Education and the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia
